5/11/2023 0 Comments Nerdjosh guilty gear player![]() The next major event is actually in a few days. Watch enough streams and you'll pick up on the players/personalities that have a big role in the scene. Offline events tend to get good numbers and netplay is fairly active. The scene has grown considerably since Xrd's console release last year. Obvious differences are the controls and mechanics, with GG building it's own identity from the foundation set by Street Fighter. Knowing how character match ups work is a key thing in both as well. ![]() Most importantly, have fun! GG is such a great game when you get it down.ĭon't know a whole lot about Melee, but both games are fast and good movement/spacial awareness is really important in both. Of course, you can learn that way as I have as well but it's a much, much tougher grind. It makes it easier if you make custom rules with your friend(s) like "no airdashing this match" or "no roman cancelling", "no dust" etc etc it may seem counter-intuitive, you might be thinking "wouldn't that be pointless? can't make rules like that in a real match." You would be right about the latter, but breaking the game down allows you to get more comfortable with it at your own pace, instead of getting demolished by people whom, to them, all the system mechanics are second nature. There's a lot you have to soak in for GG especially coming from SSBM if you want to progress as a player. Another thing that may help you as it did I, if you can find a friend to play with (in person is a major plus) play with them a lot and make custom rules for matches. Some well known players/personalities: Jiyuna, LordKnight, NerdJosh, Mr_Biscuits (all stream on ). The list of differences is enormous and I'm not that good on time at the moment. You're gonna be in for a LOT to learn from this game but thankfully the tutorial it ships with is pretty damn good. (maybe dexterity?) Two completely different systems that both require completely different mindsets when playing. Going from Melee to GG is an astronomical jump and nothing will really carry over, skill-wise, from SSBM to GG. There's virtually zero similarity between Melee and GG, of course other than the fact that they're fighting games and perhaps the fast pace but that is arguable.
